EPD Nabs Thieving Couple
Staff Report
Humboldt Sentinel
On Thursday November 1 at about 12:30 in the morning, officers from the Eureka Police Department were dispatched to the 3500 block of F Street in Eureka. The victim reported there were burglars inside his residence.
As officers responded they contacted two suspicious subjects, a male and a female, in a vehicle about two blocks from the crime scene. The subjects were dressed in dark clothing and were acting suspiciously, the report said.
We’re not sure what the ‘acting suspiciously’ was all about, but we’ll safely assume the couple were furtively dubious and questionably odd in their actions at the midnight hour.
Officers detained the subjects while other officers checked the crime scene. When property from the crime scene was located on the subjects, they were arrested for burglary.
A search warrant was obtained for the vehicle and additional stolen property
was found inside it.
Both suspects were booked into the Humboldt County Jail for burglary.
The suspects were identified as:
- Rochelle Desiree Volpi, of Eureka, and
- Kenneth Andrew Smith, of Fortuna.
This is an ongoing investigation, EPD said.
The Eureka Police Department encourages anyone with information concerning this odd crime to contact Detective John Luken at 441-4300– and refer to case 3C12-9564.
