Staff Report
Humboldt Sentinel
The Humboldt County Drug Task Force called in the bomb squad today at a marijuana grow behind the former Eel River Sawmill, north of Rio Dell, after grenades — later found to be inert — were discovered at the scene, according to the Times-Standard.
Three people were arrested, including Nathan Titchener, 28, Ben Titchner, 21, and Beth Hendry, 28, according to law enforcement.
Officials said hundreds of plants, military grade body armor, and assault weapons were recovered at the scene. The structure was protected by guard dogs, according to law enforcement.
Officials said they had received numerous complaints about the possible grow.
The Times-Standard reported they will have more information on this story as it develops.
UPDATE: Kelly May of KIEM-TV news reports 567 plants were seized from a half dozen grow rooms that were converted from inside the old offices of the Eel River Sawmill.
The Titchener brothers and Ms. Hendry are renters and explosives found on the porch were found to be inactive.
10-12 firearms were seized along with thousands of rounds of ammo and ballistics vests.
